Internationally renowned British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes arrived at Larrimor’s on Monday, November 7th and promptly filled a clothing rack with her colorful, patterned and whimsical creations. The designer is in town to work with Pittsburgh Opera on their production of The Pearl Fishers, (purchase tickets here) for which Zandra has designed the sets and costumes in her signature style.

The event at our downtown store began with a collaborative discussion with several local designers. Zandra, the Larrimor’s team, local bloggers and press gave their input on designs from Lana Neumeyer, Terry Jolo, Jena-Anne Sabom, Karen Page and Tahisha Crawford. Students from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Fashion Merchandising program also joined us for a Q&A about the fashion industry.

The evening progressed with a cocktail reception that included a Zandra interview on Andy Warhol’s “15 Minutes” airing on early MTV, courtesy of The Andy Warhol Museum and hors d’oeuvres by The Capital Grille.
