Tis the Season

Some thoughts on gift giving at this time of year.

While gift cards are always appreciate amidst the re-gifts at gift swaps, they really don’t say much when it comes to those you care about. There are countless sales and options right now, and it can be a little bit overwhelming to buckle down and cross everyone off of your list. So here are some of my suggestions and things to keep in mind when shopping these last few weeks before Christmas.

Take a risk – No one ever remembers the expected gifts. It’s often the gift that we never would have picked out ourself that is the most special and the most used after all of the holiday novelty wears off.

Jewelry fits everyone – There has never been a woman who couldn’t bear the thought of another piece to add to her collection. It requires very little room to store, lasts forever, and something sparkly is always nice.

Don’t just buy to have something – Better to spend a few dollars on candy and  card to say you care, and get that extra special gift when you find it later in the year. Maybe spring colors are more of Mom’s thing. She’ll be just as happy to get that really great gift for no reason in April.

It’s okay to buy yourself something, but not everything – I am the first to get suckered into the stores and then see a million things that I want for myself. The shopping is a little bit more bearable if you treat yourself once in a while too. How great will it be to give your cousin the handbag you deliberated for hours over while wearing the new holiday dress you fell in love with at the same store?

When people are running each other over to get to the Apple store, remember that this is a time to be extra kind. We’ve got a team of amazing service associates at our store who would love to help you find that risky but perfect gift and alleviate some of your stress. Even better news, Larrimor’s will validate your parking ticket at One PNC too. Say goodbye to getting cut off in the mall parking lot.
