Tis’ the season: De-clutter your closet.

The cold months are here. The week that the temperatures hit single digits and you want to hibernate, that’s when you know it’s time: time to clean up your living space and make room for all the glorious spring will be offering soon.

Here’s a tip: Larrimor’s offers closet cleaning services. We’ll come to your closet and have a conversation about what to keep and what to pitch (and by pitch I mean donate). This still won’t solve all of your organization problems, but it’s the first step before you really delve in and makeover your closet.

Here are some tips that will change your closet forever.

Double rods. Twice the space! If you’re anything like me, you’ve got one long bar that’s sagging in the middle from too much weight. A single bar is really only necessary for dresses. Split tops and pants into two and immediately double your space and lighten your load.

Shelves. Ever had to search for more than a minute for the mate to your shoe? I have. It’s time for shelves. Handbags, shoes and sweaters are best stored in shelves. You can see your options and nothing gets buried at the bottom of the closet.

Hooks. Never deal with a tangled necklace again. Jewelry and scarves are best on hooks. They take up less space, look great, and make choosing an accessory a snap.

Display it. Don’t be afraid to let items from your closet sit outside of your closet. Antique trunks (which serve double duty as storage), shoes and silk scarves can make beautiful displays in an extra room or your bedroom.

Who’s ready to get organized and make room for new?
