Styling Tips – How to Wear the Printed Pant

This week, we asked on our Facebook page what you thought of print pants, like these beauties above in the new Aldo Martins collection.

While the bold may be intimidating to some, it’s a surprisingly versatile piece. With a few exceptions, the printed pant is acceptable for weekend, work, nighttime, and beyond.

Casual: Paired with a neutral and looser fitting sweater, the pant looks effortless. Because the best length of the slim, printed pant is just above the ankles, it’s best to stick with a classic heel. Too many bells and whistles read as a trend overload and can make your look fall into the disaster zone. Also, steer clear of too tight of a fit. These pants are meant to be relaxed, and is more versatile because it’s not a legging.

A Little Dressier: Pairing the printed pants with a bolder heel, a few bangles, and a colored top (choose from the colors in the print of the pants) will make your look appear more thought-out, and thus, dressier. A structured jacket plays well with printed pants either over a simple silk blouse for a dressier look, or a simple black and white graphic tee for a more casual look. Either way, these are not the printed pants of the hippie times. They’re structured and show that business girls have some fun too.

Ready for Work: The dressiest and also most terrifying of the print looks is the full suit. It’s gained popularity over the past year, and it’s easy to see why. It’s polished and still so much fun. Warning though, if this is the look you are going to try, forget all other trends and style statements. This look is an absolute eye-catcher on its own, and everything else should play second fiddle to the suit. Translation: pair it with all basics in solid colors.

Last thing I love about this trend: It’s seasonless. These pants are perfect for this weird season that bounces between winter and spring. This photo shows a great transition of how the pants can go for dark to light with ease.
