My Winter Survival Guide.

The long, cold months are here. My mood is dropping with the temperatures. After chipping my car out of a sheet of ice today, I decided I’d post about winter pick-me-ups.

House plants. A little green inside goes a long way when there’s none to be seen outdoors. Here’a link to 24 plants to try at home.

Bake something. Cookies, pizza, cake. You name it. The oven warms up the house, and baking something delicious will leave you feeling accomplished. Plus it’s a great excuse to pop over to a friend’s or neighbor’s house and share. This flourless chocolate cake recipe is an all-time favorite of mine.

Revamp your space. Make some changes to wherever you spend the most time: bedroom, office, kitchen. Add art, rearrange furniture. Make that favorite room look like a place you want to be on cold nights.

Shake up your look. Nothing will make you want to hit the town more than to show off a new haircut. Make a change and get out of hibernation to get compliments.

Invest in comfort. New pajamas and cozy sweaters. Heck yeah, that makes cozying up on the couch more exciting. Throw away those ratty t-shirts you’ve had since college and buy yourself some loungewear that’s worthy of being seen.

Bundle up. I have a feeling Punxsutawney Phil will predict more winter to come.
