Lino from Stizzoli and a Preview of their Fall Collection

So Stizzoli’s website is pretty vague. I’m always shocked when there’s a brand that doesn’t have a huge online presence: No interviews with designers, no press page, nada. Since I wasn’t finding much to tell you, I wanted to go to the trunk show and check out Stizzoli for myself. I can hardly put into words how impressed I was with their representative Lino and the collection itself, but I’ll try.

That’s Lino and our buyer, Lisa (with a pink and black Stizzoli shift dress). Lino was HYSTERICAL. Everyone at the seminar was in stitches. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the brand and a superior salesman. Stizzoli’s core pieces are knits, and very fine gauge knits (26 was the number I heard). They travel without wrinkling, and Lino assured that they never lose their shape. He said that they come out of the wash almost like cashmere, and that even people who can’t wear wool, can wear them. They use all natural fibers, which means the brand is all kosher, making it the top seller in New York.

Ah, the colors were amazing, and the fabrics truly must be felt to be understood. Lisa admitted that she wasn’t quite sold on the brand from photos, and then she unpacked the clothing for the trunk show and fell in love. Everything is meant to go together. Lino said, “Ladies cannot buy one piece. It’s a lot of work.” There is an even more fun option for mixing and matching: Everything comes in different colors. There are 18 basic colors for solids, and each fabric has its own swatches. Everything must be ordered at once to be an exact match though, since it’s all hand-dyed; variations can occur if ordered separately. And don’t tell Lino a color, you have to pick from the swatches and see it in person. “Fuchsia means nothing to me. We have 15 shades of fuchsia in Italy,” he said.

Are you dying to see that orange fur popping out of the rack? Okay good. It was my most coveted from the collection, and I hope that this photo does it a little more justice to see it up close. You could even choose the fur in different colors. Red would be dreamy too.

Here’s one other coat that I absolutely loved (again available in a few different swatches for Steelers and non-Steelers fans alike).

I’m going to wrap it up with a final quote from Lino. He’s honest about the line. Stizzoli knows its customer. There’s tummy control after size 14, and he says to forget about measurements. He looked at one of the lighter-weight printed shift dresses and said to me, “If you put this on a young woman, it can be very Prada. If you put this on an older woman, this can be very Palm Beach.”
