Everyone has heard Confucius’s advice, “Find a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I don’t totally agree, because I think in order to find deep satisfaction, you have to do some hard things. I will say though, there’s a certain spark that comes from people who love what they do and I do believe it’s an absolutely key element to success.

That being said, every time I have a meeting at the store, I leave a little bit inspired. The reason is simple, every one of the employees I’ve met wants to be there, seems genuinely grateful and happy to be a part of the team. They believe in what they’re selling. I asked the President about a pretty expensive toothpaste they carry. (Toothpaste – who knew there was designer!?) I couldn’t believe it could be that much better than Crest. He thought about it for a minute and honestly said that after using it, he truly couldn’t go back to the drugstore brand. It is that good.

And more than just believing in the products being sold, they believe in the store itself as a brand that they’re selling. Every one has come across sales associates and store managers in their lifetime that are clearly at work that day begrudgingly. The type that doesn’t crack a smile or make any exceptions for you. Attitudes make or break a business. Every time I leave the store, I’m left with a good feeling that I’m a part of it.
