The Wish: Ideal Designer Collaborations

Before the PS11 satchel became the ultimate “it girl” status bag, New York designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez created a colorful and affordable resort line for Target with sundresses, separates, and flirty tops all priced under $50. Thus, creating the collaboration between Proenza Schouler and Target.

It is no surprise that designer collaborations have become the go-to buzz creating strategy between brands and retailers. These ideal designer collaborations join together two labels that people already know and love, allowing a luxury brand to reach the masses. These limited-edition partnerships lead to insane customer demand, but I cannot help but to daydream about certain designer collaborations that are yet to come.

Gap and Kanye West. Rumor has it that Kanye West may or may not become creative director of The Gap. Even if this doesn’t happen, hopefully the two will still link up for a limited-edition collaboration. This would be the ideal designer collaboration with the traditional Gap logo wear being torn up, oversized, and neutral-colored with a touch of Kanye treatment.

H&M with Acne Studios. Major brands creating a capsule collection at H&M is nothing new, but picture a cult-like following collaboration with Acne Studios. I can already picture this cool-kid aesthetic featuring bombers, chokers, and skinny jeans!

Miu Miu plus Uniqlo. When I think of affordable basic and layers, instantly my mind runs to Uniqlo. Being the shoe lover that I am, my ideal designer collaboration would be between Miu Miu and Uniqlo. With print-heavy patterns, I could already picture a capsule collection between the two. The statement collars and feminine silhouettes are pretty much everything that my spring wardrobe needs.

Fingers crossed that these ideal designer collaborations happen in the near future!
