January Journey: Best of the Burgh

Who said you had to travel the world to find something new and exciting? Not me! Whether it’s trying delicious cuisine or participating in an unusual science experiment; Pittsburgh is home to a great deal of journeys this month.

Duquesne Incline at Mount Washington:

The Duquesne Incline is one of two uphill trolleys that has been carting visitors up Mount Washington since the 1870s. It transports you to an ideal vantage point directly above where the three rivers collide. The views are incredible!

Primanti Bros:

Best of the Burgh for tradition and food, Primanti’s is a can’t-miss with the “No. 2 Seller”. The only two things you need on the table are your trusty bottle of Heinz 57 and a cold Iron City lager.

Andy Warhol Museum:

Located a block from PNC Park in the North Shore, the Andy Warhol Museum is the largest single-artist museum in the United States. It holds seven floors worth of educational exhibits, instillations, the Brillo Boxes sculpture, and the Elvis Presley original painting.

Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens:

Are you ready to see some of the most natural beauty in the world? Phipps is home to everything from tropical forests and butterfly gardens to orchid plants and flower collections.

The Strip District:

There’s nothing like the Strip District, making it best of the burgh for so many reasons! With its ethnic grocers, street side grills and sidewalk merchants, it’s a sight to see 7 days a week. It is the perfect blend of old and new known for its nightlife as well as its fabulous food.

Consol Energy Center:

Home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Consol Energy Center has the most comfortable seating arrangement in the NHL. Not in to hockey, this venue houses some of the most spectacular events including the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Carrie Underwood in February, and Justin Bieber in July.

Carnegie Science Center:

This science center is home to a planetarium, an exploration station with electricity and weather exhibits, a sport-focused venue, a robotics experience, and a naval submarine. Adults and children agree, the Carnegie Science Center is the best of the burgh.

Pittsburgh Popcorn Company:

In my opinion, the very best of the burgh! Perfect for any occasion, you must find Pittsburgh Popcorn Company whether it be in the strip district, downtown in the cultural district, or elsewhere for unbelievable flavors. Make sure to try the chocolate peanut butter!

Heinz Field:

Steelers are going to the playoffs! Whether you’re a devoted fan or prefer a different team, Heinz Field is worth a visit. Thanks to its waterfront location, this modern stadium has one of the most unique views throughout the league and also doubles as a concert venue throughout the year.
