Date Night: What to Wear

Can you believe we’re already just a stone’s throw away from the next holiday? Valentine’s Day is two days away and there’s likely to be a last minute dash for reservations at the local wine bar and attempting to find the perfect gift for that special somebody.

I myself try not to get sucked into the typical commercialism of store-bought Valentines and overpriced set menus. I mean after all doesn’t an intimate dinner with candles at home sound much better on a Sunday night?

My ideal Valentine’s Day look means staying away from the overly themed ensemble. I try to keep it simple with my same everyday style attitude. I like to show a hint of St Valentine appreciation with pops of red. Try pairing a simple white dress with a red lip and you’re set for a lunchtime rendezvous or a romantic shopping trip in town. The trick is not to go overboard with a red dress and red accessories.

Red not your color? Try your favorite shade of pink instead! It will give you the same romantic glow that this holiday is all about. The idea is feminine meets edgy. Start with an IRO leather jacket, add a silk top and black leather pants, and you are ready to grab a few cocktails with your guy.

Now that we have the outfit picked out, remember you don’t need to be someone’s Valentine to be “loved” today, or any day. If you fall in the single category, you’re not alone. Stay off Facebook, keep your head up, and pour generously on the wine.
