It’s that time of year again and The Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing. The Penguins skated to a 4-3 overtime, series-clinching win over the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their second-round matchup on Tuesday night at CONSOL Energy Center and advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.
After allowing the Caps to convert two of three power plays in their Game 5 loss, the Pens were vocal about not giving them any more opportunities. Tuesday night was the most intense game I have seen in the series thus far.
With the Pens holding onto a 3-2 lead, they somehow ended up with three straight delay of game penalties. This gave the Caps a total of 1:58 with the two-man advantage, and they took advantage tying the game up 3-3 on the last one.
And in the Pens most crucial game of the postseason, they were able to eliminate the Washington Capitals to a 4-3 win in overtime. It was a huge win for the Pittsburgh Penguins and I am looking forward to the next series, where they will have home-ice advantage over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
